10 years: Sanofi’s CSR performance recognized again by Dow Jones Sustainability Index

September 16, 2016

For the 10th consecutive year, Sanofi was distinguished in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World), the most widely recognized international CSR index. Sanofi is among seven pharmaceutical companies retained by the index (of 66 selected). For the second time, Sanofi also was included in the DJSI Europe, which is even more stringent than DJSI World.

The DJSI World evaluates the best performing companies on CSR across all sectors. This assessment focuses on the company’s economic, social and environmental performance, covering 24 different areas such as governance, development of human capital and climate strategy.

DJSI World commended Sanofi’s performance in the areas of “innovation management, risk and crisis management, supply chain management, its environmental system, labor practices and human rights.” Areas for improvement include “actions to support local communities and philanthropy and strategy to improve access to care.

In 2015, Sanofi deployed 280 programs for access to care in 80 countries, benefiting more than 325 million people. In daily life, corporate social responsibility is reflected in how Sanofi’s 110,000 employees work to prevent and cure diseases, improving patient quality of life throughout the world. It is this commitment to responsibility that contributes to Sanofi’s sustainable performance.
