Social responsibility is part of our DNAIt lies at the core of Sanofi’s business as a global healthcare leader. Being a healthcare partner involves promoting social progress, economic development and respect for the environment as well as acting ethically and responsibly. A model for sustainable growth requires a new approach to healthcare that focuses on the patient. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a strategic imperative for Sanofi - it drives our performance, fosters innovation, attracts talent and makes employees proud to be part of the company. As an integral part of the Group’s strategy and values, CSR also represents a vision for the future that fosters sustainable growth.
Sanofi expresses its responsibility as a global healthcare company through its CSR approach, which places the patient at the centre of the Group’s business activities. Access to healthcare is one of the major challenges facing societies today. For a healthcare leader like Sanofi, enabling individuals to assert their right to health involves facilitating access to quality medicines and vaccines to benefit as many appropriate patients as possible, including the world’s most vulnerable populations, often in areas of pressing social need. Every day, we act to improve access to medicines and health and to go beyond providing medicines to aid disease prevention and education, and support for patients and healthcare professionals. To this end, we engage in a continuing dialogue with patients, patient associations and healthcare professionals to find better solutions to the challenges they face. |
The value of our CSR activitiesThe value of our CSR activities has been recognised by many awards. In 2010, Sanofi received external recognition on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (for the fourth consecutive year), Access to Medicine index, the Ethibel Sustainability Index, ASPI and the FTSE4Good. We also received the Global Business Coalition Core Competence Award for our role in fighting malaria and won the CSR Grand Prix in the Agefi CSR Governance Awards. The Group was voted the top European pharmaceutical company in the Thomson Reuters 2010 Excellence Survey and was also awarded Silver Class status in Sustainable Asset Management’s 2011 Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
