Caring for the environment

Protecting the environment is a longstanding commitment at Sanofi. With many sites throughout the world, we strive to reduce the environmental impact of all our activities.

Sanofi takes action on many fronts to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and products.

As part of our ambitious climate change policy, limiting our carbon footprint and energy consumption are key priorities for the Group. We constantly seek to minimise the greenhouse gases our processes emit and the energy they consume. We have also launched several successful initiatives to reduce water consumption across the company.

Environmental considerations are part of the optimisation process throughout the development of our products, to make them safer and more environmentally friendly, as well as reducing raw material consumption. For instance, the Group has developed tools to allow the use of low-impact reagents and solvents to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing operations.

As a world leader in healthcare, Sanofi is aware that plant and animal life is a rich potential source of innovative new medicines. We therefore recognise the necessity to protect and sustain the planet’s biodiversity.
