Improving access to healthcare

Roughly one-third of the global population lacks access to essential medicines. As a global healthcare leader, Sanofi feels a responsibility to facilitate access to healthcare in developing, emerging and industrialised countries. Sanofi is present in over 100 countries, and we act on our commitment to improve access to healthcare globally through several channels.

We accomplish this first through our comprehensive portfolio of medicines, including generic medicines, which address a wide variety of conditions, and through our range of vaccines, the broadest in the world, providing protection against 20 bacterial and viral diseases.

Through our Access to Medicines Department, we contribute to the fight against diseases that affect resource-poor countries in particular by making our medicines affordable through a tiered-pricing policy. In addition, because we know that drugs alone are not enough, we support a wide range of educational initiatives and training tools designed to meet the needs of healthcare professionals and patients, in order to ensure effective disease management.

Through the Sanofi Espoir Foundation, we work with healthcare providers and non-governmental organisations to provide relief in emergency situations, and we offer our expertise and resources to support better health infrastructures.
Sanofi will continue to work to improve access to healthcare by building on all our successes, experiences and expertise. As an innovation-based biopharmaceutical player, we will do our utmost to continue to innovate for patients, wherever they may be.
