The value of vaccines

Only a century ago, infectious diseases were the main cause of death worldwide. Today, vaccination can prevent several infectious diseases. Mass immunization programs have proved effective in controlling and even eliminating diseases. Apart from access to drinking water, no other item on the health agenda has had such an important impact on reducing mortality.

The World Health Organization estimates that vaccination saves more than 3 million lives every year
