In accordance with the regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the application of international accounting standards, Sanofi presents its financial statements in compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) since January 1, 2005.
The income statement measures changes in the wealth of a company over a specified period, by reporting income and expenses. If income exceeds expenses, the company has made a profit for the period; if expenses exceed income, it has made a loss.
The Board of Directors of a French public limited company (société anonyme) is made up of directors, some of whom must be independent. To qualify as independent, a director must have no ties of any kind with the company, the group, or its management that might compromise his/her freedom of judgment. Of the 15 members of the Sanofi Board of Directors, 8 are independent.
